Moreover, the SHOM (tidal observatory) and the Atlantic underwater study group (GESMA) will be taking part in scientific events developed around the Polar Institute marine survey vessel, the "Marion Dufresne". As for the historic service of the Navy, set up on Quai Malbert in the commercial harbour, they are preparing a wonderful exhibition on the history of marine scientists from Brest.
On 14th July, a day dedicated to the Navy around the theme of "the Navy serving the public," will also be an occasion to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Abeilles and the 50th anniversary of the Super Frelons from Lanvéoc with some spectacular shows: helicopter rescue demonstration by a Super Frelon from the «Abeille Bourbon», a fly past by Superétendard jets, etc.

National Navy Museum
The castle museum is open to the public at BREST 2008 (from 10 to 19 h) and is a particularly interesting place to visit.
